Without Moving (25)
Recent Paintings & Woodcuts by Tim Lowly

ON VIEW September 11-October 2 2010
OPENING RECEPTION September 11 7-11pm
This exhibition marks the 25th year of a project that has been central to the art practice of Chicago based painter Tim Lowly. The project has been eclectic in direction, but singularly focused in the inspiration drawn from Lowly's daughter Temma, who was born in 1985. The title "Without Moving" refers to Temma's unusual being—an apparent status due to profound "disability" that proves to be illusive in the face of her persistent attentive presence. Like a living painting, waiting for us to open our eyes and see.
In addition to recent paintings and woodcuts this exhibition will include:
-At 25: A 25 part two-sided painting made by over thirty artists from around the world.
-Without Moving (after Chase Guy): A large scale painting that includes an on-going collaborative involvement of those who are able and willing.
-An on-going untitled sound work in collaboration with Matt Joynt.
-A gallery talk on September 21 with Riva Lehrer, David Johanson, Matt Joynt, and Tim Lowly.
-The 25th Annual Baby Mountain Assembly: A music-for-the-muse event on September 25.
